Guided response week 12

I was recently browsing around in my old emails and i am apart of the fight to save the japan dolphins. So I got an email with a link to an article Titled "Get educated" I started reading it and it brought me to tears, just like the movie "The Cove". Which if you feel as passionate about animals and thier rights as I do I strongly suggest you watch this movie its pretty powerful and moving.  This article was talking about the dolphins in Taiji, Japan that are brutally murdered every september. I don't feel like as many people are aware of this as the should be and I really think we need to spread the word. Every year for six months dolphins are driven into what is called the cove in japan, either fishmen go out and drive them into the cove or the dolphins swim in themselves. But either way the cove is a trap for all doplphins and once they enter the cove as much as it pains me to say this they don't leave. The murders simply think that dolphins are pests and a nuisence. Once all the six month build up of dolphins reach the cove that september they are brutally killed. Some may be saved for captivity and or for zoos, dolphin shows,  and what most of the japense population doesn't know is that the rest is used for a small minority of meat. Research has shown that dolphins are highly intellgent creatures know when you think of a dolphins the word pests certainly doesn't come to mind. Taiji japan has dolphins statues figurines and is made to look like a dolphin loving city, but it real life its a dolphins worst nightmare. The fishermen say they kill the dolphins "quickly and humanley" now is there such a thing? The method they use to kill dolphins is soo unbelievable you have to wittness it yourself, and once those images are seen by the naked eye they will never leave your head, i know it hasn't for me. Because of the movie "The Cove" its made me want to fight like hell to do anything in my power to help these dolphins.

You can go to savejapandolphins.org and learn more. There is also a petion you can sign to help the fight.

free choice week 11

As I’ve been reading my novel Wintergirls, I keep coming across the questions that I always asked in the novel Thirteen Reasons Why. How can girls reach the point to do something so drastic that even effects their health. I don’t understand how girls can come to the conclusion that being able to see your ribs and bones is even remotely attractive.  Who wants a body like that?  This book reminds me of the problem that a model had when she modeled for Ralph Lauren had a few months ago, where a European ad agency made her body look so unhealthy and unreal it turned heads. It was a big conspiracy and a talk of that nation. Just think of what kind of influence it shows to young girls and women today? It seems like more and more stars now are starting to come out with their battle on anorexia and or bulimia. Just yesterday I was watching Portia De Rossi on Oprah talking about her battle with both, she discussed how that made her feel and what triggered it all. She said she went to a dress fitting for a commercial she was going to be in and the clothing designer was getting frustrated because no one told her what size Portia was. She screamed at the agency say “No one told me she wasn’t a size four.”  She was actually a size eight. She told Portia “face it honey just have big legs.” And those words triggered it all. Portia starved herself into a whopping 84 pounds. Its mind blowing how someone could manipulate thier body to that point. It really goes to show you what words can do, and what any girl or women of any age will do or how far they will go to reach their glory.

Below is the ralph lauren add & a protia de rossi at her skinniest wieght:

Is that attractive?
